A FUNDRAISER – MAKE THEIR JOURNEY TO MEMPHIS SO MUCH SMOOTHER:
Scrapper & Skelton will represent Indianapolis at The International Blues Challenge, representing the world-wide search for those blues bands and solo/duo blues acts ready to perform on the international stage, but still needing that extra big break. Each affiliate of The Blues Foundation has the right to send a band and a solo/duo act to represent its organization at the IBC. The IBC is judged by blues professionals from across the world who have years of experience in listening to, producing, and creating blues music. The Blues Foundation has established a set of criteria by which all acts are evaluated throughout the five days of the IBC. Affiliated organizations are required to stage a regional preliminary IBC competition, with the winner of that event representing the organization in the International Blues Challenge held annually in Memphis, TN along historic Beale Street.
Guitarist/Singer/Songwriter Steve “Scrapper” Brown has over 55 years as a solo musician and bandleader. Blessed with a smooth baritone voice steeped in blues/jazz, gospel and funk, Brown brings a wealth of experience and versatility to the stage. He has appeared on six CDs, including songwriting and production credits.
Blues Harmonica/Vocals Ken Skelton is a blues enthusiast with a love for classic acoustic blues. Skelton has received local recognition for his performances in the genre in which he hopes “not only entertains, but produces thought in the listener.”
